About The Jäger Maestros

The Jäger Maestros are a Manchester based eight piece brass band who have been performing since 2013 and play 45 to 60 gigs a year. They work in two guises: an oompah show in lederhosen, dirndls and Bavarian suits, and a modern party brass band with no Bavarian theme at all. The party band can be booked with a singer or as an instrumental set.

The oompah show is led by a stand up comic frontman who runs games, drinking songs and audience participation between the music. The band describe themselves as mash up specialists, with a library of over 100 tracks that runs from Queen and Oasis to ABBA, Madness and Dua Lipa medleys. A standard booking is about 90 minutes, usually two 45 minute sets with a 30 minute break.

Credits listed on their site include a sell out Edinburgh Fringe show, three headline slots at Butlins, the Abu Dhabi Oktoberfest, a Jack Whitehall afterparty and an appearance on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. They have travelled all around the UK and Ireland, and their reviews include RAF Cranwell and a Butlins events manager. They bring their own PA system and carry public liability cover.

Questions About The Jäger Maestros

What kind of music do The Jäger Maestros play?

They play brass arrangements of party hits, mash ups and dance floor fillers, with over 100 tracks in the library. The published repertoire runs from Bohemian Rhapsody, Mr Brightside and Uptown Funk to ABBA, Madness and Dua Lipa medleys. The oompah show adds drinking songs and games, and the party brass band drops the Bavarian theme entirely.

How many players are in the band?

Eight. Their site describes an eight piece brass band of professional musicians, and the party brass band can be booked with a singer or as an instrumental set. The oompah show is fronted by a stand up comic who leads the games and audience participation. The site does not list the individual instruments.

Where are they based and how far do they travel?

They are based in Manchester and have travelled all around the UK and Ireland, and as far as Abu Dhabi, where they headlined an Oktoberfest. Their site also lists headline sets in Cork, Tralee, Limerick and Killarney, shows at Butlins and a run at the Edinburgh Fringe, so distance is not a barrier.

How long do they perform for?

About 90 minutes for most events, usually as two 45 minute sets with a 30 minute break. They say they will work with the client and can extend this, and for bigger events they can perform across the whole day if that is agreed at booking. For bookings longer than the usual 90 minutes they ask for food and drink to be provided.

What do they need at the venue?

Ideally a stage space of 8m by 4m, though they say this is not essential and they have played in smaller spaces. Set up takes about 30 minutes depending on the layout. They bring their own PA system and microphones, and for bigger venues they agree technical details with the sound team or organiser. Their equipment is PAT tested.

Are they suitable for weddings and corporate events?

Yes. They offer a wedding reception party band and a festival or event brass band as well as the Oktoberfest show, each available with or without the Bavarian theme. They can write a bespoke arrangement for a first dance, will agree formal or informal dress for events without the Bavarian theme, and the site describes the content as family friendly.
